Do you know who your clients are? What demographics are you serving?
Your ideal client is someone who gets their needs met by what you are providing.
You must have a solid understanding of your product and/or service. Are you able to clearly describe what you are offering to strangers? It is important to see your business from your client’s perspective.
What are the measurable or understandable benefits of someone purchasing your product or service? Take time to really think about the benefits that your clients will receive from working with you.
ACTION ITEM: Pull out a notebook and start listing the benefits of receiving your products/services.
Ask your current clients about the value or benefits they received when working with you. What do your clients tell you during and after their sessions or after using your products?
ACTION ITEM: Reach out to your clients and ask them open-ended questions about the value they received working with you. Add these notes to your notebook.
Are you happy with your current clients? The most successful business owners are working with clients that have had or are having some of the same challenges and opportunities that you have already overcome. It is easier to assist individuals working through things that are similiar to what you have been successful in moving past.
ACTION ITEMS: Make a list of some of the challenges your clients are working on and through currently. Do you see patterns?
Think about their goals, their fears, and their challenges.
Think about their passions, dreams, and desires.
How many of your clients are coming back? This would be an indication that they are happy with the services and products that you are providing. Take a moment and think about your retention rate. How many of your clients are repeat business? New business?
If there is no reason to return, then how many of them are referring you to others?
Build a client profile on your best clients.
- Are they Female? Male? Both?
- Are they Parents? Single?
- Are they Professionals? Entrepreneurs? Students?
- What income level?
- What education level?
Are you within market value for your level of expertise? Are they willing to pay your rates? Do you have the volume of clients that you need?
Get clear on the type of client you are serving and who you are attracting to your business. When you understand who your client is, this will help you build the brand and marketing necessary to attract the perfect clients.
