Lighting Up Your Intentions for Summer
In June, we celebrate the Summer solstice- the longest day the sun will be shining on the northern hemisphere during the calendar year. The sun is at its highest point in the sky which can be inspiration for us to shine our light as brightly as the sun this month. You have been through the darker days of the year literally as you traversed a national pandemic and all that entailed.
I have found that the more chaos outside my door; the more inclined I am to stay inside because my energy is shifting with the onslaught of negativity lurking around me. Now, I take time to recalibrate and find myself energized by the prospect of being able to enjoy rooftop dining, concerts, and a multitude of other activities including hugs from other humans that I haven’t hung out with for a while.
As we all move out of the shadow of COVID into the light of the longer summer days, I encourage you all to shine your light! You may just be one light, but each effort you make can brighten the day of people around you. Make sure you are filling yourself up too so you do not get drained.
Here are some tips to maintain your energetic light this month.
- Stay away from the yuck. Make your emotional health a priority and limit the intake of negativity. I understand it is important to be aware of what is transpiring in the world. I would just add that you need to be aware of the effect it has on you. If you are an empath like me; you can only consume so much negativity from various sources. Be mindful; do your best to observe and not absorb and eliminate what you can from your immediate setting.
- Spend time in nature. We live in an area notorious for its biking, walking, and hiking trails! Go fill up those lungs with the amazingly fresh Colorado air and release that pent up energy from sitting in zoom meetings. It feels good to breathe and enjoy adventures outside your door and this action moves the energy in your body, which is rejuvenating on many levels.
- Journal out the junk. If you are feeling fatigued or suffering from pain; your body may be trying to alert you that you have reached capacity. One way to get the negative energy out of your body is to journal and burn. Write out your thoughts, fears, frustrations, annoyances, and any draining emotions from the people or situations that you are around. Once you’re done, don’t let it sit in your space! Rip those pages out immediately and burn them, rip them up or dilute them in water with the intention of releasing that energy from your body and transmuting the energy for your highest good.
- Meditate and stay in gratitude. Taking time to breathe and center your thoughts can have wonderful benefits for your mind, body, and spirit. If meditating is tough for you, do your best to identify at least three things that you are grateful for each day. Gratitude is very high vibrating energy, which will charge your batteries.
In June 2021, I will be hosting a Women’s heart intention playshop for $30 on June 3 at 6:30pm at Discover your Spiritual Gifts for all people over 18 yrs old. We will do a light meditation, self-reflection, and strategies for intentional living. We will decorate glass wine bottles so we can light up our intentions - helping you grow so you can live an abundant life in 2021!
