Why 2021 is the Year to Fine Tune Your Moral Compass

1 Why 2021 is the Year to Fine Tune Your Moral Compass

Last year tested us all in ways we never could’ve expected.  Our stability and sense of order were disrupted and remade.  In 2021, we’re being asked to make sense of our new order; we’ll fine-tuning our moral compass by focusing on the organizations and institutions we associate with and why they are important.  This fine-tuning will ultimately ask us to transform.

In numerology, 2021 equates to the number five.  Five represents conflict, challenge, the potential for transformation, and health.  In the tarot, the number five relates to the Hierophant.

In traditional tarot decks, the Hierophant represents the Pope.  He is the leader of the church (or religious institution) and is thought of as a spiritually evolved and wise leader.  He is the person you turn to for help as you emotionally and spiritually transform.

In 2021, you’ll transform by deciding what institutions (such as a church, work, or spiritual group) you choose to join or leave, and also which leaders to follow.  The Hierophant asks you to blend mind and spirit and ascend to a higher plane of awareness by questioning who you listen to and who you choose as mentors.

We all worked so very hard to make sense of the changes that happened to us in 2020.  This year will give us a chance to take our work a step farther.  It is our opportunity to align ourselves with leaders and organizations that support us, help us expand, and encourage us to become more self-aware.

Here are five questions to consider when evaluating leaders and organizations that you may want to follow on your spiritual journey:

Does this leader / organization’s message align with my values?

Do I trust this leader / organization to act in integrity?

Would I recommend this leader / organization to a friend?

Would I turn to this leader / organization when I need emotional / spiritual guidance?

Does this leader / organization support me, or are they “in it for their own ends?”

Being misled by poor leadership or feeling that a guru is judgmental or doesn’t have your interests in mind are signs of a bad hierophant.  This year will be the year to do what is right and step away from those influences.  Now is the time to forge your own path and trust your intuition as you find new spiritual teachers and communities.

Associating yourself with leaders and groups that align with your values will help you navigate the challenges and conflicts that come with the five energy of 2021.  Who will you look to for guidance and mentorship?  Ask yourself what leaders you want to emulate and why you agree with their message.
