Spiritual Devotion

Spiritual Devotion

Devotion is defined as love, loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause.

What is spiritual devotion? I have always had a strong connection to the Divine. My memories of childhood include the times that I would pray or chat with God as a small child. My family only attended church on Easter Sunday. It was my mother’s opportunity to have a new dress, hat, and gloves for the special day. We would take photos after church in our new outfits.

When I became a teenager, I would seek opportunities to attend church with friends and family members. I had this deep need to be in the sacred space of the church to connect with the Divine. My mother allowed me to attend a variety of churches and I got exposed to many different types of beliefs and religious practices.

I was always seeking and searching for answers. The one thing that I was very aware of was my devotion and love for the Divine. This connection brought me comfort and peace in the most difficult times of my life. My experience with my connection with the Divine has always been loving, compassionate, and caring.

Being of Service

I have always been an individual that wanted to be of service and to assist others around me. As a young teenager, I would take on youth leadership positions in the church. I would lead Sunday morning classes, bible studies, and bible school in the summer.  I took on roles as Social Director and Bible School Director as an adult. I have always been dedicated and passionate about the things that I have done. I really do not know any other way to be. It is programmed in my DNA to work hard and give it all that I have.

My devotion has continued throughout my life. I have taken positions of service in communities, educational groups, professional groups, etc. I would arrive early and stay late to make sure that I was supporting the group.

As I consider the terms “spiritual devotion”, I have realized that there is a deep part of me that naturally steps into a place of service in the areas of my life that I am most passionate about. My devotion is about loving something so much that I have a need to support it in a place of service. My time is precious to me. However, I will always give my time to the people, places, and events that I am devoted to and inspired by.

Devotion of Work

As I have led students on the Path of Sacred Priesthood, I have also witnessed those students that demonstrate a high level of devotion to their spiritual work. They have come to understand that their spiritual work (meditations, prayers, rituals, altars, ceremonies, and studies) have the largest impact on their lives. They have committed to making them a priority in their life. They do not question whether they should be doing but work. They feel a strong call within to do the work and show of in a position of service.

The individual that has a soul that guides them on the path of spiritual devotion is connecting and taking time for their spiritual work every day. They are dedicating time for the Divine in their daily practices through meditations, times of stillness, being present, rituals, and so much more.

These individuals have experienced the most transformation and their connections to the Divine are stronger than ever. They have come to trust the guidance that is provided them, and their lives have become so much richer in the process.

These individuals are moving along their divine path and becoming beacons of Light for the world. I am so honored to be a part of the journey and to gain a deeper understanding of spiritual devotion through witnessing the devotion of these students.

Are you a devotee? Do you feel called to serve the Divine? The path of Sacred Priesthood will reconnect you with your divine purpose of living a life of grace, compassion, and love for yourself and humanity. Find out more about this Mystery School program here.
