Gazing and scrying have been used by seers, oracles, and scryers around the world. The word “scry” derives from “descry” which means “to make out something unclear or distant by looking carefully; to discern.”

Technically, crystal gazing is a type of divination that works with a crystal sphere. You can also use mirrors, flat crystals, pools, and bowls of water.

There are many legends that individuals practiced gazing in Greece, Rome, and throughout Mesopotamia. The Druids used gazing in England as well as in Scotland, France, Germany, and elsewhere in Europe.

The most famous legend about scrying is found in the “Legend of the Magical Tower.” There are different versions of this tale from India, Persia, Europe, Greece, and Rome. In the story, the magician builds a tower filled with wonders. One of the wonders is a mirror that shines out over the town. The mirror had the ability to reflect the approach of an enemy from a great distance.

CHOOSING A CRYSTAL BALL

When choosing a crystal ball, find one that is at least one and a half inches. The crystal ball does not have to be clear. You can work with a crystal ball that has fractions or imperfections.

Choosing your crystal ball is a personal experience. It is important to find one you resonate with. The larger the sphere, the more information you may receive.

Use your intuitive guidance to select the best crystal for you. Close your eyes and take some deep, cleansing breaths. Take the crystal in your hands and tap into the different energies of the crystals. Find the one that speaks to you.

If you can stay focused, you may begin to see images or messages within the crystal ball. Do not try to force the process or to be overly critical with yourself.
