The Magic of October
What is the magic?
There is something so magical about the month of October. The trees begin to change colors, and this is a reminder that the shift of seasons is upon us. The temperature begins to cool as we prepare for the winter months ahead and the holidays are right around the corner.
THE FALL SEASON
The trees in the fall represent letting go as the leaves change colors and fall to the ground. They understand the importance of not holding onto things that no longer serve them as they move into the months of winter. What are you still holding onto in your life that really needs to be released? This is the time of the year to shed some layers to release what no longer serve us.
The farmers are celebrating their harvest. Some individuals are canning, freezing, and stocking their pantries for the winter. I loved this time of the year when I lived in Tennessee. The family would be picking, preparing, and canning all the fruits and vegetables. The cellar pantry would begin to fill up with all different jars of tomato sauce, green beans, corn, peas, pickles, etc.
As the cooler air moves into our neighborhoods, the leaves begin to fall from the trees. The trees remind each of us of the importance of letting go, so that we can hibernate for the winter. The winter months are for slowing down and recharging our energies for Spring.
The Energies
The energies of October are magical. The spiritual veils are thinner in the month of October and you are able to have a stronger connection to the other side. This is the perfect month for magic, rituals, and ceremonies.
The Colors
The colors of October are bright oranges, yellows, reds, and browns. These colors bring in the energies of joy, happiness, creativity, passion, and love. They are a great reminder of the natural beauty of the fall season.
The Scents
The fragrance of apples, cinnamon, candy corn, pumpkin pie, and so much more. This is the time of the year that I love hot apple cider, caramel apples, and freshly baked pies.
THE MAGIC
Take some time this month to step into the magic of the season. This year has been tough, and it has required each of us to shift and change things in our lives. Magic is about changing our perspective and the outcome of the things in our lives. Make time this month to shed the old and step into new perspectives and energies that will support your life in a positive manner.
- Be a kid again and enjoy a caramel apple
- Find an opportunity to engage in creativity and have fun
- Bake a pie or bring a fresh pie home
- Play in a fresh pile of leaves or connect with trees
- Spend more time in meditation and ritual
- Take a sacred bath and release any stuck energies
- Make some popcorn balls and share them
I love all the fun and magic of this month. Join me for a free event to watch the family movie, Hocus Pocus, at our center. We are playing the movie on Friday, October 23rd starting at 5 PM. You can find out more about this event, and our other center events, on the calendar of our website.
