Starting New Chapters

When we start new chapters in our lives, it can be both exciting and challenging. The focus may be a new job, new relationship, new home, or a personal goal. A transition marks the beginning of something new in our lives. These changes can offer an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth.

We are stepping into a new year. This is the perfect time to consider making changes in our lives and trying new things. What are the fears blocking you from trying something new? 

Take time this month for reflection and consideration. What needs to change? What are your dreams and desires? What is keeping you from moving forward? 

Here are some TIPS: 

EMBRACE SOMETHING NEW: Make a list of new things that you would like to try or experience this year. Keep in mind that change can lead to expansion and growth. You might try a new restaurant, experience public transportation, volunteer for an organization that you believe in, or take a new route to work. 

GET CLEAR: Make sure that you are being clear with your intentions. You want to make sure that you are moving towards your dreams and desires. It is important that you are taking responsibility for the actions necessary to achieve your goals. 

REFLECT: Take time to reflect on what is and is not working in your life. This is the time to make shifts and changes on what is not bringing you joy and happiness. Sometimes the most difficult part is making the decision to let it go. You could be learning from the past and making better choices. 

TAKE A STEP: It can be easy to get overwhelmed with what needs to be done. Take one step at a time. You should break it down into smaller steps, so that you can celebrate the movement forward. It does not require that you eat the entire elephant in one sitting.  

ASK FOR SUPPORT: You may need to get some support. Do not be afraid to ask a friend or family member for help. When you have a support system, you receive encouragement, advice, and perspective on the situation. 

SELF CARE: Make time to love and care for yourself during the process. This will be an important element of any change. You must be kind and compassionate with yourself and allow the space and grace needed to work through the changes. 

BE OPEN: When you start a new chapter, it sometimes brings in things you have never experienced before. Make sure you are open to trying something new. You may find something or someone that you really like through these experiences. 

Approach the new year with curiosity and excitement. Be willing to embrace the journey instead of rushing through it.
