Are you passionate about your business? Do you know how to use that passion to become successful?

You have a passion, and you want to convert these passions into a successful business. Shouldn’t that be an easy process? If you love what you do, can’t that love be converted into financial achievement?

Passion is a key element in being successful. However, it is not the only element needed to create a business and expand it. There is no magic bullet for success. If there was an absolute roadmap for success, everyone would be doing it.

Charismatic Leadership

The owner must be an effective communicator with staff, customers, clients, and students. They need to be able to describe their business, products/services, and future direction in a way that attracts the perfect candidates for their business. If you are not able to describe who you are, what you do, and what your business is about, your customers, clients, and students will not have a clear idea on your products and services. Are they able to attract the right people? Are they able to build and keep the right people?

Business Relationships

They need to be able to build and maintain relationships. Every relationship is critical to building and expanding a business. It is important to value your customers, clients, and students. Do you know their name? Do they feel part of your business? Your staff, partners, and colleagues must also understand the importance of the relationships that have been created. They must be consistent in maintaining the business relationships. Do they understand how to cultivate and build relationships?

THE KEY: Earning loyalty for your business

Clear Vision & Direction

After you have opened your business, you must have a clear idea on where you are going next. How will you measure success? Do you understand the expenses of the business versus the revenue?

This can include short- and long-term goals. It is important to have a clear vision on what you hope to accomplish in the first six months, year, eighteen months, two years, etc. You may not reach all of them, but it will provide a clear roadmap on where you want to go with your business.

Risk Assessment

The most successful business owners understand the risks of the business. What type of insurance is needed? What personal property is at-risk with your business? You must evaluate your personal life and stability before starting a new business.

Most individuals would state that you should not invest in the slot machines in Vegas unless you are prepared to lose all of it. The truth is that most new businesses fail in the first five years. It can take 2-3 years before a new business becomes profitable. In the last few years, businesses have been directly impacted by COVID. This has forced many new businesses to start over again. They have had to re-build their business from the starting point again. This can be a financial struggle.

THE KEY: Understanding the Risks & Your Commitment

Marketing Plan

The owner needs a clear strategy or plan on how they will attract and maintain customer, client, and student flow. How will they find you? How will you find them? This can be the most difficult element of building and expanding a business in today’s market.

  • Will you network with groups and organizations?
  • Will you pay for advertising?
  • Will you place your business in a high-traffic area to be seen?
  • Will you do print marketing?
  • Will you have a street team promote you?
  • Will you have a loyalty or referral program?

You need to have a strategy or plan for getting started and growing your business.

THE KEY: Developing a Marketing Plan

Being a business owner takes focus and work. It is not an easy process. It will require that you have these elements and many more to be successful!
