What does it mean to hold a space of grace? What is grace?
Grace is given freely without expectation. The word grace has so many meanings including beauty, elegance, forgiveness, innocence, charm, mercy, flow, harmony, and divine love.
A simple definition of grace is the experience of awe, gratitude, and unconditional love when you are in harmony with yourself. Grace is the spiritual freedom that comes when you come to the realization that life is a gift. From this space, you seek to live in harmony with the powers of the universe.

MY PERSONAL STORY
Change can be difficult and hard. In October, I was pushed to make some major changes with the center. This change brought me lots of physical, emotional, and mental sacrifices and I had to surrender to the direction that it was taking me. These changes impacted my family, my friends, my staff, my team members, my clients, my students, my customers, etc.
There were individuals in my community that were upset with me for not communicating personally with them. As soon as the decisions were made, I started telling everyone of the changes that came to the center. I talked about the changes with customers coming to the center, our team members that were working at the center, the students attending classes, etc. The change was sudden, and we had a very tight time schedule to make the change happen. I did not have the bandwidth at the time to schedule personal meetings with everyone impacted. We were given three weeks to pack, liquidate, and to move the center.
There were individuals that showed up in my classes that were upset that I shared my story of the process of the move with them. They believed that I wasted their time by sharing the human side of my experience and over-communicated with them.
There were individuals who were proud and happy to see my vulnerability through this process and others that would have preferred I hadn’t been vulnerable at all.
What does the word GRACE mean?
There are times in our lives when we are faced with a tough challenge or difficult situation. It may take everything that you have physically, emotionally, and mentally to move through the energies presented. This experience was one of the most difficult challenges that I have faced in this lifetime. There were times that I had to weep from the disappointments, the exhaustion, the expectations presented to me and my determination to push through the energies.
I continued to respond to calls, emails, and text messages from team members, students, and clients to the best of my ability. I continued to be responsive and available as much as possible for their personal needs. I want to love on people and to support them on their journey. I am truly passionate and committed to the role that I play in this lifetime.
There were individuals that truly showed up for me and the center during this transition. I would not have been able to do this without their kindness and support.
I believe grace is about holding space for someone even if you do not totally understand what they are experiencing. An individual may not communicate, respond, or act the way that we expect them to. Do we truly understand the circumstances of their experience? Should we hold space for them and have grace during difficult times? How can we set our personal needs to the side for a moment, so that we can give them the space to work through their experience.
Grace is another way of loving on the people we are in community with.
I had individuals that were superstars.
- Vialet, can I reschedule my appointment until after the move?
- Vialet, please take your time in responding.
- Vialet, should I reschedule my class for another time?
- Vialet, can I get you food or drink?
- Vialet, can I get you anything?
- And, some held space and offered a caring shoulder as I cried from exhaustion, disappointment, and worry.
I am still grieving losses that occurred during this move and transition. It is getting easier every day. I am placing one foot in front of the next foot. It is important that I trust my path ahead. If you are someone that was disappointed, hurt, or upset about something that I said or did during this transition, I hope that you will forgive me and offer me some grace for this time period. I will truly try to do that for you when you need it.
I love everyone in my community, and I am also still human. As we all are. May you be blessed with grace, both for yourself and for others, throughout your life.
